Hi. I’m Shari. I want to share a little more about me because I want to know about the writers of the blogs I visit. So, here’s a bigger pictures.
These Days
I am currently working for a small non-profit organization called Surviving Katrina and Rita in Houston, doing odd jobs. Their website needs updating, and they agreed to let me do it. I also have a couple of other websites under construction, blogs and one from scratch which is always fun. Next month, November 2009, I’ve challenged myself to write A LOT, for FUN. A Few of My Favorite Things
Writing has been very useful for me in my various positions over the past 20 years. From letter writing, to ad copy, to articles ghost written for an information library on a website; I have made use of the skill that I enjoy so much.
Blogging provides me with a fun way of publishing. It gives me a way to be available for exchange of ideas with readers. And it’s a great way to participate in group activities from other blogs.
Poetry is another genre that I really enjoy. For creative pieces like that, I have Telling Stories, another blog. Together they allow me to say what comes to me to put on the page.
Photography is another activity that brings me pleasure and productivity. You can see some of my efforts posted on my Flickr photostream.
Graphic design has gotten me through many birthdays, holidays and events, on a shoestring budget. It’s added great fun to being frugal, as well enhancing projects.
Web design keeps me up nights. I find I really like page manipulation through coding. I have been learning how to layout web pages, including optimizing images (photos and graphics) for the web. I’ve used it to edit web pages, tweak my blogs and to build websites for me and for work. I plan to do more of that soon, starting with a website project for a friend.
Publishing, for Me
What can I say? I really enjoy throwing stuff out into cyberspace. I like clicking the Publish button. And believing I might be helping or entertaining someone else is the reason I keep plugging away.
I use my images, (photos and graphics), to enhance the messages. I’m pretty sure all images are mine. I’m trying to think of them all without reviewing the site. Anyway, I may use images from others, but for now, my fun is in doing the whole thing on my own.
