The idea came up for this post because I have a lot going on right now. That translates to lots of things to keep track of, including time to relax and let my brain breathe.
People often talk about the benefits of lists, the wastes of time they prevent and create. (And both sides are true.) I have found the benefits of list-making to be significant, as there are many fleeting ideas and tasks that I would prefer to capture, instead of hoping to remember them.
lists make things less stressful
Most of us need to take a break from time to time. One thing that helps me to get away from work, physically and mentally is Lego® blocks. Sometimes it’s Lego® therapy, sometimes it’s just play. When I sit with them, my goal is to put everything else out of my mind and see in my thoughts only what I will build and how I want to do that. Lists help with that, not the building but the freedom to focus.
