Remember, last post I mentioned I secured training for A+ certification? Well, I do have a spot. The 14 week training program begins MONDAY. That’s less than a week away and I’m so excited! At the same time, I’m focused—trying to be focused about the things that I want to accomplish before I get started.

5, 6, and 7

I was reviewing my list that I shared last time and I can honestly click of three things right now, with a fourth coming later today. Numbers 5, 6, and 7 are well in hand.

Number 7 details: In fact, for #7, the posts for my dormant work blog, I actually wrote several and scheduled them for release throughout this week.

And I like it so much for that one, I’ll likely continue doing it by writing much on Thursday through Sunday. (Did I mention that I only have class Monday through Thursday?) That will give me more than enough time to generate the number of posts I’m aiming for which is 4 weekly. My class time will be over before I know it and I will have a tolerable routine in place that I can continue beyond that time.

I don’t have the same issue with this blog or Telling Stories. This blog is more casual, the journal of the three. And Telling Stories, I may have mentioned several times, is my creative writing blog. The poems come frequently. It takes longer to write my other style posts and it works out fine. Since, between daily challenges, I have a very sparse goal of three any-kind posts per week.

Number 6 details: Since last I was here, I did complete National Poetry Month challenge writing to prompts from Read Write Poem. That site is now closed, no longer live anyway. But you can visit to read the daily poems that were posted. Some were posted to the site, most others were linked to the writers’ sites, which is what I did. You can review my collection which is indexed on my NaPoWriMo page.

The last part of the project was the opportunity to be considered for inclusion in the online anthology being compiled. To be considered we had to select, edit and submit our best poems, no more than three. After 1:00 a.m. today, I sent of my submission email. I’ll be crossing my fingers until the determination is made. I hope they don’t cramp.

Number 5 details: You may have noticed the tab for my website bookstore. I set it up just before the last post (same day), with the hopes of linking it directly to the bookstore site. It will suffice for now as a description page with a link to the store. Especially since I can’t write on that site, I decided it’s a good idea to keep it this way. So if I want to have special offers, I can list them there for people to review.

…and sundry other things

There’s still lots more that I’m working on. The general submitting is going slowly as I read to learn about the journal sites. I’m learning which sites I am eligible to submit to, and which sites can reasonably be expected to include my writing. I recently learned that my Telling Stories blog is not Afro-centric enough to be included in a certain community. I’m not yet sure whether that’s a good or bad thing. But I continue.

Finally, I have started to pay attention to little things on blog sites. One major one for me is pinning posts to the start of the blogs. I’ve seen them used a lot lately and quite effectively. And I’m thinking that it may help me with promotional endeavors. This is related to #9 on the previous post, but there’s more that I’m compiling which I’ll put in a later post.

Until next time, be productive. It makes you feel good. And when you get jammed up, write about it.

So, what deadlines are you facing? How are you preparing for big, brief time intrusions? As always, I’d love you read your comments.
